Speaker: MICHAEL GIETZEN - Illustrated

An anecdotal review of how a local Accountant and his team became major contributors to the management of high-profile international events.

This is a story about ambition and success. Just a few years ago “IDENTITY,” an Eastbourne-based company of moderate size, serviced conferences and exhibitions. Today it finds itself on the world stage – literally.

Think of events of global significance: COP 26 in Glasgow; COP 28 in the UAE; the G7 Conference in Cornwall. This is the local company that has been making it all happen. Closer to home, it has been the force behind the splendid New Year’s Eve firework displays at the London Eye. It has also played an instrumental role in the organisation of King Charles III’s Coronation, along with that of other major state events.

Michael has many fascinating stories around the planning and execution of such great projects and about the complexities of catering for the needs of world leaders and their entourages.

The founder and CEO of this global live-events agency, Michael was born and raised in the vicinity of Eastbourne and still calls it home. He is recognised by The Times as one of our Top 50 Most Ambitious Leaders and by Forbes as an entrepreneur of note, having also won The Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade. A chartered accountant by profession, he has a personal commitment to incorporating increased sustainability into all aspects of the company’s activities.
